Father’s Day is quickly approaching and we understand that trying to please dad can be quite the challenge. To help you we’ve compiled a list of activities, days out and experiences that are sure to keep you all entertained.
So whether he is an avid golf player, a bloke who appreciates a fine wine when he sees one, or just a man of simple pleasures, hopefully we will have something just right for him.

Golf days out fore dad

If your dad is a fan of golf or wants to try his hand at a new sport, then why not explore one of Surrey’s stellar golf courses. If you are a golfing family then head down to Hampton Court Palace Golf Club, where dads play for free when playing with a son or daughter. This offer is also available at Merrist Wood & Sunbury. The offer is available for the whole Father’s Day weekend, and you can find further details on how to book click the link here.

If 18 holes of golf doesn’t pique your interest, then why not try some out some of the amazing driving ranges in the county. Including World of Golf London which is located in New Malden. Open 7 days a week from 7am to midnight, the venue offers everything to beginners and experienced players alike, including lessons and special deals for new members.

Silvermere Inn and Golf Course in Cobham is a great choice of venue for anyone who would like to enjoy a round of golf or hit the driving range. Silvermere also delivers some amazing food and service and is a reliable relaxed day out, especially if the weathers on your side. To find out what more they have to offer this Father’s Day, click here.

Tell dad to take a hike

We mean literally, with the amazing views and scenery available in the county, Dad will be more than happy to take a hike for Father’s Day this year. Follow the footsteps of the ensemble from the Canterbury Tales with the mighty long trail from North Downs Way, beginning in Farnham and ending in Canterbury. A walk rich in history and heritage, would be perfect for any dad who loves his history and hates to be stuck indoors.

For something a lot shorter try the Tillingbourne at Work Self Guided Walk, with a 4.5 and 7.5 mile option and plenty of pubs and restaurants on the trail, great for those who want to appreciate the scenery and still make it home on time for their favourite TV show.

If walking is not for you at all but you still want to be outdoors, then why not take a picnic to some of the amazing parks and gardens in the area, our personal favourite is Hampton Court Palace – but for a list of the area’s best Royal Parks visit their website here.

Walkfest 2014

Countryside

Try some fine wine or check out a local brewery

For some great wine tasting, visit Denbies Wine Estate, the largest single estate vineyard in England. With amazing views and a special brunch dinner, followed by a tour and wine tasting sessions, it is the perfect venue for Father’s Day.

For a dad that would much prefer a pint, then try the Hogsback Brewery near Farnham or the Surrey Hills Brewery near Dorking. Both produce some of the finest award winning and unique ales and provide great tours and tasting sessions – giving an insight into the process behind the pints our dads’ love.

If your father is more of a spirit man then how about gin tasting and a tour at the Silent Pool Distillery. Created using some of the best ingredients, sourced right from Surrey, it is the perfect distillery for any local gin fan.

Cast your eye towards the best fishing lakes for Father’s Day

If your dad is a fan of fishing and would like nothing more than to sit down by the lake with his reel in hand, then check out the county’s best lakes. Bury Hill Lakes near Dorking is a serene location and has been the top destination for local anglers since the 1960’s. The lake is home to a variety of fish including Carp, Pike, Bream and Zander.

On the Surrey/Sussex border there is also the Shillinglee Fishery, a collection of lakes available to fish on a day ticket, with plenty of Carp and Tench and Pike, weighing way over 30lbs, the lake’s definitely worth visiting for any fishing fanatic.

For those dads who are mad about motors

For Dad’s who love their cars, the Double Twelve motor festival returns this year on the 18th & 19th of June. The event is rich in motorsport history and will be home to some of the worlds greatest classic cars. As well as the Brooklands Museum, there will be a day per weekend of speed trials, challenges and competitions, with plenty of entertainment for the whole family as well. Click here to see more about the event.

For the dad that loves a bit of Jazz

The Hilton Hotel in Cobham is hosting a Sunday Jazz Day this weekend, which is perfect for any dads who can appreciate amazing food and great music. For the perfect way to end the weekend at stunning venue, make sure to book early on the Hiltons website here.

From his countless global travels, he recounts the hilarious saga of a disastrous family trip to Norway to see the Northern Lights. He rails against a world that doesn’t match up to our expectations and contemplates the true nature of happiness.

No Bill Bailey show would be complete without music, so Bill’s performing his version of the protest song, a heart-rending country and western ballad played on a Bible, and a fabulously downbeat version of Happy Birthday.
