Sports Park to Launch New Climbing Wall – Surrey Summit – with Free Taster Sessions

Surrey Sports Park is marking the launch of Surrey Summit, its new climbing wall, with free climbing taster sessions at the end of May.

Whether you’re an experienced climber looking to try somewhere new, looking for a day out with the family, or booking a birthday party or social event, climbing at Surrey Summit offers something for everyone.

To celebrate its re-launch, Surrey Summit is hosting a free climbing Open Day on Saturday 30 May, where visitors can enjoy a free 30-minute climbing and abseiling taster session between 10.00-16.00, suitable for all ages and abilities.

Surrey Summit offers 24 climbing lines, including 18 lead and 18 top rope lines with over 60 set routes and dozens of feature routes.

And if you’re up for a challenge, why not try your hand in the extensive bouldering area, offering 4.5m high walls and a cave with over 100 different bouldering problems to tackle.

The launch of Surrey Summit offers new features and training facilities to the existing Surrey Sports Park wall, including a 35 degree woody board with wooden and polyurethane holds; full size campus board with a variety of rung sizes; a set of slopers; and new wooden fingerboards by Beastmaker and Bamboard.

The entire bouldering wall is reset every 2 months, and new wall routes are made every 2-3 months by professional route setters from all around the UK, including updated holds so you don’t get too familiar.

Surrey Summit Climbing Manager, Johnny Adams, said, “I’m delighted to announce the launch of Surrey Summit at Surrey Sports Park this May. With new features and regular route setting, we are looking to make the wall even bigger and better than ever!”
