Surrey Sports Park set for new £500,000 gym upgrade this summer

Surrey Sports Park is pleased to announce plans for a £500,000 full refurbishment of its health and fitness centre later this year.

The University of Surrey owned Sports Park is set to continue its partnership with Life Fitness, one of the world’s leading fitness equipment providers and manufacturers, to deliver a new gym overhaul in summer 2015.

The investment will see the introduction of new, state-of-the-art equipment, more stations, more elite-level strength and conditioning and functional training areas to coincide with the growing trends and demands of its users and the evolution of fitness industry.

The developments are set to offer a next-generation training environment for Surrey Sports Park members, University of Surrey students, Team Surrey athletes and its elite teams and partners.

Surrey Sports Park Head of Operations, Jonathan Acott, said, “We’re delighted to be able to announce this investment in our gym facilities and to be working in partnership with Life Fitness to deliver a world class fitness and training environment. We endeavor to offer state-of-the-art facilities to meet the increasing demands of our portfolio of members and stakeholders, and this upgrade will ensure we are able to offer the next generation of fitness equipment and technology to all users.”

Craig Cocking, UK Vertical Markets Manager, Life Fitness & Hammer Strength said, “As a company equally passionate about fitness, Life Fitness shares the same commitment to providing first class gym facilities and creating a valuable leisure facility for the local community. The impressive new gym will provide users, ranging from grassroots beginners to world class athletes, access to high quality, technologically advanced equipment to meet their personal workout needs.”

Surrey Sports Park will now launch a two-week consultation period with its members via an online survey to gauge feedback on current training habits and the health and fitness centre, before finalising and announcing further plans.

The announcement comes after a £40,000 investment in 24 new Spinner® Blade ION™ bikes in the Spinning Studio and the opening of a £1.8million development of new grass sports pitches earlier this year.
