Kings Head Food & Drink

The Kings Head Pub- Quarry Street

Built in the 1500’s, The Kings Head, located in Quarry Street just off of the High Street, is Guildford’s oldest pub and remains one of the most popular. Upon entering The Kings Head, guests are welcomed by the sight of the beautiful historic beams and the warmth of a crackling wood fire before visitors even get to the bar! The friendly bar staff provide a warm welcome, ready to offer from the wide variety of drinks available, including six real ales and deliciously refreshing cocktails.

As well as the plentiful drinks for sale, The Kings Head offers a wealth of home cooked food on its menu. From Sunday roast, to curry, to pizza and even beer battered fish and chips, guests needn’t worry about going hungry.

Monday nights are sure to be a popular choice for pub goers, with The Kings Head holding their quiz and curry night for the small price of £3 per person. Patrons not only get to enter the quiz – with a £50 bar tab as prize – but also get a curry of their choice. If curry is not to your taste then 2-for-1-Tuesday is always a high point of the week offering two for the price of one on both pizzas and cocktails. There’s Fish and Chip Friday and Sunday brings with it the Sunday roast, ideal after a late night on Saturday (during which the Kings Head is open until 2:30am). And then on Sunday evening, for those with a passion for music or looking to give their vocal chords an airing, the Make Music team brings open mike night to the pub, making the Kings Head a great place to end – if not start – the weekend.

It is the diverse nature of the Kings Head that makes this pub such a popular destination. Whether you’re a family looking for a comfortable place to eat, a group of students on a night out or if you have a passion for history then the interior décor documents at length Guildford’s history- there is truly something to suit everyone. Even those with an interest in the paranormal, or a love of all things spooky should pay a visit, as the Kings Head also has the distinction of being Guildford’s most haunted pub as well as its oldest standing.

The garden area is definitely worth a mention. Having recently been extended, the tiered garden even extends to an upstairs terrace that grants a stunning view of Guildford Castle. It is a beautiful spot to sit out in the summer, but get there early as the garden usually proves very popular when the sun is out! The heat lamps and gas fires ensure that customers remain nice and toasty as the weather grows colder and the parasols make sure that even when the rain comes down, guests can still enjoy the fresh air without fear of a battering from the elements.

Whether exploring Guildford’s historic sites, looking for a peaceful bite to eat or a cheeky pint, The Kings Head is sure to have something to please even the most discerning of pub goers. Open from 12pm-12am Sunday-Thursday and 12pm-2am Fridays and Saturdays, do not hesitate to pay The Kings Head a visit and check out more of their deals and events.
