Here’s our guide for the weekend that sees the transition of October to November.

The Milk channel the sounds of Bill Withers, the Isley Brothers and Isaac Hayes as well the soundtracks of Lalo Schifrin and Bill Conti.

Support comes from new artist Sample Answer, Birdsworth and ModerisM DJs.

The Elves and the Shoemaker

Saturday 11am and 2.30pm

Shoooooes. New shoes.  No one makes shoes like an elf. This show is a magical must-see with its beautifully created sets and puppets including a comic mouse.

Dark Circus Party: A Halloween Spectacular

Saturday 8pm

A Halloween party with a twist. The Dark Circus party features feats of aerial hoop, fire eating, stilt walking, burlesque and boylesque, all introduced by a Ringmaster.

At 10pm a DJ hits the decks for hours of abandoned dancing until the night draws to a close.

The Rubenstein Kiss
Yvonne Arnaud Theatre
Saturday 2.30pm and 8pm

Amidst rampant paranoia about the enemy within, the shadow of  suspicion falls on two radicals from a religious minority. The Rubensteins are a devoted Jewish couple based on the real-life Ethel and Julius Rosenberg who received the death penalty for passing US atomic secrets to the Soviet Union – despite protesting their innocence.

Adults Fright Night
The Spike, Warren Road, Guildford
Saturday 8pm til midnight

An adults only Halloween Special starting with a complimentary cocktail and canapé followed by a harrowing journey down the West Wing corridor. Survivors will receive a 3 course buffet supper followed by music, dance and a licensed bar.

Appropriate costumes are encouraged but not essential.

Showstopper! The Improvised Musical
Electric  Theatre
Saturday 7.30pm

The Showstoppers return with their multi award-winning show  with a brand new musical comedy created at every performance by transforming audience suggestions into an all-singing, all-dancing production  with unpredictable and hilarious results.

Guildford Choral Autumn Concert
Charterhouse Chapel, Charterhouse, Godalming
Saturday 7.30pm

The autumn season starts with a concert combining two works of art by the great masters of the Baroque era. Handel’s Dixit Domitus and JS Bach’s Violin Concerto in E major will be preceded by the world premiere of a new setting of the Stabat Mater text by Hampshire composer Ian Schofield.

Stabat Mater is scored for solo soprano, chorus and strings bringing a beguiling mixture of musical beauty and drama to the traditional Latin text.
